The Hydrology First approach aims to provide comprehensive insights into watershed response, and in turn, more effective flood risk products, through the use of probabilistic hydrologic modeling performed as the first step in the project.
Through incorporating uncertainty, this allows for a stronger scientific basis for hydraulic modeling, flood hazard identification, and management approaches.
Basin-wide hydrologic analysis performed first also allows for more effective and meaningful stakeholder engagement and flood risk products.
